Bella Cucina 13469 Popcorn Maker Review

I bought this popcorn maker recently from a neighborhood store for half the price it sells here. I love popcorn and wanted a healthy method for producing it. Years ago I owned another machine by a different manufacturer that also made "air popped" corn. I got rid of that one because it left one quarter of the kernels "unpopped". This machine by Bella Cucina is even worse. It leaves "one half" of the kernels unpopped! I followed all of the instructions in the manual, pushed the on button and within about 60 seconds the popping begins and goes along pretty fast. At the end of the process the bowl did not seem to be filled that much and it turned out that the bottom of the bowl was covered with unpopped kernels. Too expensive to make popcorn this way and the item is useless to me. I do NOT recommend it. I'm only glad I did not pay full price.

I needed a replacement for my old Orville Redenbacher popper and bought this one since the price was good. Big mistake. Not all the kernels popped and it blew the unpopped kernels all over the kitchen counter top. Plus the popped ones got stuck in the top part of the device and I had to turn it over to get the half of the kernels that did pop to fall in the bowl. Doesn't Sunbeam have any quality control? I am going back to Orville Redenbacher.

Prepare up to 18 cups of hot, crispy popcorn at a time - and in less than five minutes - with this convenient Sunbeam hot-air popcorn maker. Simply add a scoop of regular or gourmet popping kernels to the machine, place a large serving bowl (not included) under the spout, and flip the switch to "on". The unit leaves behind virtually no un-popped kernels, and its angled chute effectively directs popped corn into the serving bowl. Because it works with hot air instead of oil, the popper makes it easy to create a healthy, low-fat snack. Enjoy the popped corn plain, with salt and melted butter, or get creative with a wide range of favorite toppings including, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, or parmesan cheese. The unit's measuring cup, which sits in the lid, also works well for naturally melting butter or margarine for drizzling over the popped corn. Other highlights include a transparent lid for safe viewing and removable parts for quick cleanup.
