BlinQ QPF100 Popcorn Maker Review

I've had several hot air poppers over the years, none with problems. I've only thrown them out because they've gotten old and look unsightly; not because they stopped working. I'm sick of microwaved popcorn and decided to buy a new hot air popper. The Blinq is small and cute and I got it on sale at Bloomingdales for $19.99. Simply put, this is a major piece of garbage. For every kernel that pops, another 5 to 10 kernels shoot out prematurely, carried out of the machine by the one popped kernel. These aren't popcorn "duds" that wouldn't pop otherwise. These are just prematurely blown out of the machine. On top of that, a large percentage of popped kernels don't get blown towards the bowl but in other directions so there's popcorn all over the room, no matter how large a bowl is placed under the shoot. Towards the end of the popping cycle, a large number of kernels that were about to pop but hit the bowl first start popping and shoot like fireworks from the bowl (it's unclear to me how they pick up such a high, long and forceful trajectory. I've seen unpopped kernels pop out of bowls before but not THAT far). Basically, from around 4 Tbs of popcorn, I get about 1.5 cups of popped popcorn or no more than I'd get from one of those little snack sized single serving microwave popcorn bags. And I get back about 3 Tbs of unpopped kernels between the bottom of the bowl and whatever has flown all over the kitchen. I find kernels in places I'd never expect to find them, days after using the machine. Do NOT buy this machine.

Bella Cucina 13469 Popcorn Maker Review

Bella Cucina 13469 Popcorn Maker

I bought this popcorn maker recently from a neighborhood store for half the price it sells here. I love popcorn and wanted a healthy method for producing it. Years ago I owned another machine by a different manufacturer that also made "air popped" corn. I got rid of that one because it left one quarter of the kernels "unpopped". This machine by Bella Cucina is even worse. It leaves "one half" of the kernels unpopped! I followed all of the instructions in the manual, pushed the on button and within about 60 seconds the popping begins and goes along pretty fast. At the end of the process the bowl did not seem to be filled that much and it turned out that the bottom of the bowl was covered with unpopped kernels. Too expensive to make popcorn this way and the item is useless to me. I do NOT recommend it. I'm only glad I did not pay full price.

This is the sixth air popper I've own. I've tried them from simple to cute and fancy, and the Presto Hot Air Popper is by far the best. Easy to use and clean, it is leaving only a couple of kernels unpopped each run. I am most pleased.

Sunbeam FPSBPP7051-000 Hot Air Popcorn Maker, Red Review

I needed a replacement for my old Orville Redenbacher popper and bought this one since the price was good. Big mistake. Not all the kernels popped and it blew the unpopped kernels all over the kitchen counter top. Plus the popped ones got stuck in the top part of the device and I had to turn it over to get the half of the kernels that did pop to fall in the bowl. Doesn't Sunbeam have any quality control? I am going back to Orville Redenbacher.

Prepare up to 18 cups of hot, crispy popcorn at a time - and in less than five minutes - with this convenient Sunbeam hot-air popcorn maker. Simply add a scoop of regular or gourmet popping kernels to the machine, place a large serving bowl (not included) under the spout, and flip the switch to "on". The unit leaves behind virtually no un-popped kernels, and its angled chute effectively directs popped corn into the serving bowl. Because it works with hot air instead of oil, the popper makes it easy to create a healthy, low-fat snack. Enjoy the popped corn plain, with salt and melted butter, or get creative with a wide range of favorite toppings including, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, or parmesan cheese. The unit's measuring cup, which sits in the lid, also works well for naturally melting butter or margarine for drizzling over the popped corn. Other highlights include a transparent lid for safe viewing and removable parts for quick cleanup.

West Bend 82416 Air Crazy 4 Quart Corn Popper Review

My family wanted to try healthier non-microwave popcorn, but we weren't terribly impressed with the ones at our local Walmart and Target. As you see from the reviews for the Pop-Lite, that one has no on/off switch, whereas this one does!
I actually stumbled on this at Marshalls for $19.99 and liked the look much better! We have only popped with it once so far, but it popped all but 4 kernels out of a 1/3 cup unpopped kernels. Fed my family of 4 well for a snack with a little melted butter and salt. Did not use the butter melter option on the machine. Just used the microwave to melt the butter- easier clean up and less concern about ruining a necessary part of the popper.
Popcorn does come out blazing hot and with continued spiral force from the popping, but it is all ok, kids thought it was a great show. So far, I am just as happy as the 300+ people who commented on the Pop-lite, and probably happier because I have an on/off switch.

Ideal for everything from a healthy mid-day snack to movie night with friends, this hot-air popcorn maker prepares 3-1/2 quarts of hot, crispy popcorn in just three minutes. Simply add 1/2 cup of kernels using the included measuring cup, place a large-size bowl (not included) under the spout, and flip the switch to "on". The unit leaves behind virtually no unpopped kernels, and its angled chute does a good job of directing popped corn into the bowl. Because it works with hot air instead of oil, there's not the high fat or oil content to worry about. That said, there's no reason the popcorn can't be doctored up with generous amounts of salt and butter--or brewer's yeast, spritzes of soy sauce, parmesan cheese, and other creative toppings. The measuring cup, which sits in the lid, doubles as a butter-melting dish. Just add the desired amount of butter or margarine (the heat from the popping process will gently melt it) and drizzle over the bowl of popped popcorn. With a compact size that takes up minimal space on the counter, the popcorn popper measures approximately 8 by 5-1/2 by 12 inches.

Presto 04821 Orville Redenbacher Hot Air Corn Popper Review

Nothing last forever.
Presto has been making this popper for a long time. I bought one about 15 years ago, and use it maybe once a week. Makes wonderful popcorn, evenly popped, no burning, no oils, just great popcorn. You do need to put a big bowl under it and turn the bowl, but with this slight attention, there is no mess.
The popper died last night -- motor burned out. But how many consumer devices last 15 years? I got my money's worth.
So, I'm buying another one today. Why try something else when this works so well?
