(More customer reviews)I ordered this to use in my popcorn machine. I was uneasy about how the kettle would handle this product, but since I have a great kettle cleaner I went ahead and ordered it. I am sure glad that I did because this is FABULOUS! It leaves no mess in the kettle at all. When it starts to pop the first kernels that come out are the best coated ones and then as more pop they get less coated, but if you mix them all together I think you get great flavor. Just remember this is a sticky coating when it first comes out so unpopped kernels stick to the popped ones so watch out for those. Still a great tasting product that I will keep purchasing...

(More customer reviews)I've had several hot air poppers over the years, none with problems. I've only thrown them out because they've gotten old and look unsightly; not because they stopped working. I'm sick of microwaved popcorn and decided to buy a new hot air popper. The Blinq is small and cute and I got it on sale at Bloomingdales for $19.99. Simply put, this is a major piece of garbage. For every kernel that pops, another 5 to 10 kernels shoot out prematurely, carried out of the machine by the one popped kernel. These aren't popcorn "duds" that wouldn't pop otherwise. These are just prematurely blown out of the machine. On top of that, a large percentage of popped kernels don't get blown towards the bowl but in other directions so there's popcorn all over the room, no matter how large a bowl is placed under the shoot. Towards the end of the popping cycle, a large number of kernels that were about to pop but hit the bowl first start popping and shoot like fireworks from the bowl (it's unclear to me how they pick up such a high, long and forceful trajectory. I've seen unpopped kernels pop out of bowls before but not THAT far). Basically, from around 4 Tbs of popcorn, I get about 1.5 cups of popped popcorn or no more than I'd get from one of those little snack sized single serving microwave popcorn bags. And I get back about 3 Tbs of unpopped kernels between the bottom of the bowl and whatever has flown all over the kitchen. I find kernels in places I'd never expect to find them, days after using the machine. Do NOT buy this machine.

The lid traps the steam inside during the cooking process and results in tough, rubbery, styrofoam-textured corn. Plus, the popped corn had a weird taste that is indescribable.
We are loyal Cuisinart customers and have used the same model coffee maker for over 10 years. When one wears out, we quickly purchase another of the same. We were very shocked that Cuisinart developed such an under-performing product. And, as popcorn lovers, our disappointment was huge.

I've read stories about other manufacturer's popcorn makers gouging Teflon off their cases, this one is nicely manufactured, works great, works FAST and is easy to clean! I don't like microwave popcorn and I cannot believe I've been shaking a big pan on the stovetop to make popcorn compared with how easy this popcorn popper is! If you like popcorn this is 100% worth the money!

(More customer reviews)This is a very poorly made, cheap popcorn popper. I should have been suspicious when the manufacturer's product description on the item page describes a meat grinder ("This meat grinder lets you create fresh, top-quality meats and spreads in minutes.") Someone messed up on that one! A flimsy plastic housing gets extremely HOT HOT HOT and is almost too hot to touch after the popcorn is finished popping. Just turning the switch to "off" was hazardous because you have to be careful not to touch the body of the popper while doing so. And talk about LOUD - sounds like someone is using a leaf blower in your kitchen! It only takes 1/4 cup of kernels at a time, which does NOT make very much popcorn. Then you're advised to wait 15 minutes before popping another batch. I bought this hoping that it would be similar to the Presto popper, only with the highly coveted "on/off" switch everyone wishes the Presto had. Big mistake! This is more expensive than the Presto, but it is NOT worth it. Save your money & buy a microwave popper. I had a microwave popper (Nordic Ware) for over 10 years and just recently wanted a replacement because it's not performing as good as it used to. I'll be getting another Nordic Ware microwave popper since that worked wonders in the past!

(More customer reviews)My family loves homemade popcorn, and I've never been a fan of microwave or air popped popcorn. Last year I received this popper as a gift.
Pros: Easy to clean
Heats up fast
Cons: Where do I start?
You may notice from the picture that there is a rod that fits into a hole at the top of the popper. The rod is too short, and the lid easily comes off, even when it is clipped on the other side. This means a few different things
a) the lid doesn't stay on well while popping.
b) When carrying the popper by the handle, the lid disengages from the popper. If it's full of popcorn, you have hot popcorn all over the floor.
The lid that opens doesn't stay on right. It seems as if the lid is also ill-fitted for the pot. The lid doesn't stay up when you try to put in oil and popcorn, so you have to juggle this step with two hands. Also, as you're turning the handle or adjusting the popper on the burner, the half lid falls down, and so popcorn starts popping out. Try turning the handle and putting the half lid back up while not getting burnt. It's not easy, and I've often ended up with burnt popcorn when this happens.

The problem lies with the two plastic gears that turn the sweeper.Heat melted the way the gears are attached to the metal rods.I fixed mine with"Liquid Nails" but after further use the gears became brittle and cracked and I gave up. We've found Orville Redenbacker brand popcorn works the best but even the store brand was good. Add a little spray margarine and a touch of sea salt and you have a healthy, yummy snack. The popcorn maker can go into the top rack of the dishwasher or washes easily by hand.
Economical, too! Great buy and an item you will use often. I bought three of them and gave two as gifts.
