These cakes have the same look, texture and taste almost the same as a regular rice (not popcorn)cake. Products like this are dime a dozen and had I known they were almost the same thing as everyone else's rice cakes, I would not have ordered this. What to do when your favorite product cannot be found and seems to not be duplicated by anyone else? Such a simple, delicious idea, don't know why other companies don't make them.

The corn is more crisp than most microwave bagged popcorn.
Because it's still on the cob, it doesn't flower out as much, rather it's a little more dense.
The kernel skin seemed less tough and I didn't get any stuck in my gums.
About 80% popped, which is pretty good.
This is organic, and comes from Kansas.
It's a little pricey, but what with the recent reports of slightly higher rates of organ failure from GMO corn, and falsified research data from some GMO corn producers, it's nice to see a tasty, organic alternitive.

(More customer reviews)I'm with the review in favor of this popcorn. again, no idea what the negative reviewer is talking about. indeed, it's not organic, so they're comparing apples to oranges. and anyway, they're nuts saying it's fake and salty. ON THE CONTRARY. I've spent 12 yrs on the west coast, half in LA where I learned how to eat very healthily. half in SF where I went more organic, less meat and avoiding preservatives. I lucked out randomly trying it from a small grocer here in Manhattan and am completely impressed. absolutely tastes superb. and I never ate microwave popcorn since it generally wigs me out -- the chemicals, stench, etc. this one uses subtle but absolutely enough flavor and tastes VERY natural. I've raved about it to family, who can't believe it also doesn't leave your microwave smelling - at all! that is a miracle, and testament to it's decent ingredients.

Nutiva Organic Coconut Oil, 29-Ounce Jars (Pack of 2) Review

(More customer reviews)My bf and I both have subscriptions for this coconut oil. It's a great way to get it for an AMAZING price. I used to order the larger size and I was disappointed when it was unavailable for a while and I had to order the two pack in this smaller size (although really 29 ounces is not that small) but in the end I like it much better. With two smaller ones we can each have one if we end up running out around the same time otherwise, half of the coconut oil stays fresh and unopened. Oh, and if you want to put some on right after a shower, the smaller jar is more likely to actually fit in your shower.
We tried other coconut oils and they were...well...gross. Really rancid tasting. We use this in deep dish pizza crust and the one time we used another brand we basically ruined two giant 14 inch pizza pies. We also use it for flour tortillas, pie crust, refried beans, smoothies, coffee cake, um, all kinds of things. I am planning to try using it instead of butter in a croissant recipe, although I expect it will be quite tricky since it melts at a slightly lower temperature than butter, and gets harder when it hardens. Put it in the fridge and it is hard as a rock.
Anyway, we now use this stuff about as much as we use olive oil, and we've found it actually showing up in recipes in some newer cookbooks now, too, rather than us just trying to substitute and seeing how it works out. It does have a strong coconut smell and flavor, which enhances some recipes in a FABULOUS way, but may be detrimental in others.

(More customer reviews)I've tried a few different brands of extra-virgin coconut oil, and for the most part I'm equally satisfied with them all. Despite the marketing hype, coconut oil brands within each category (virgin, refined, hydrogenated) are very similar. I should specify the qualities I look for in a coconut oil: I want a coconut oil with a rich coconut aroma and taste, maximum nutrition, and minimal processing. For these reasons, I always select an organic, extra-virgin, cold-pressed oil.
I'm pleased that this Nutiva Organic Extra-Virgin Coconut Oil provides these qualities along with an easy-to-find "packed on" and "best before" date. The jars I ordered in late January 2011 were packed on September 13, 2010, and the "best before" date is September 13, 2012. Stored correctly (cool, dark location, no refrigeration needed), this nutrient-dense oil stays fresh for two years. It smells and tastes great--coconutty and slightly sweet.
According to Nutiva, no hexane is used in the processing of this oil. Hexane is a petroleum-derived solvent used in all kinds of industrial applications, from shoe manufacturing to roofing. Interestingly, because hexane's primary molecular structure is carbon, it can be passed off as "organic." Do a little research; "cold-pressed," "organic," AND "hexane-free" are key considerations when selecting your coconut oil for nutrition purposes.
I'm not as pleased with the plastic jars. In fact, I took off a star as a result of the plastic packaging. I feel that a quality organic oil should be stored in a glass jar, and ideally a dark one to reduce oxidation. I've actually selected coconut oils specifically because they come in glass jars, and might have bypassed this product if I hadn't found it on sale at a good price. I put this information in the review to aid those of you who are looking for a coconut oil in a glass jar. Of course, at this larger size, you might prefer a plastic jar to eliminate some of the weight, but for storage purposes, glass might be best.

(More customer reviews)Nutiva's Organic coconut oil is the best I've found. I've tried several brands, but nothing tastes as clean and pure as this. There is a definite undertone of coconut, but I like the flavor, even when frying eggs or eating it on cinnamon raisin toast. I recently had bloodwork done and my HDL (the good cholesterol) was an impressive 77---anything over 39 is considered in range; over 50 is heart protective). I attribute this great HDL number to using only coconut oil, butter, and olive oil in my cooking & drinking green tea.
Amazon's Subscribe & Save offer is a great deal; I really like the 2 pack of these smaller (15 oz) jars. We're a small household and I like keeping one jar sealed while using the other. Keep in mind that coconut oil is different than other oils--it is solid at temperatures under 72, so it will look something like shortening in the wintertime. Still tastes great and is wonderful to use in all kinds of cooking.
One more important detail: this is an organic, COLD PRESSED coconut oil. Others may be organically grown, but I've found some brands are hydrogenated to make them solid at room temperature (I won't go into all the reasons this is not a "good thing"). Suffice it to say that any coconut oil you buy should be cold pressed (and that goes for your olive oil, as well). Google to find out why...

(More customer reviews)I tried these on a whim after hearing about Veggie Booty for a long time. I knew I wasn't ready for VB, but I could certainly try out a new kind of cheese puff. I previously thought that a day without Cheetos was a day wasted, so this was a big change.
These are the best things ever! They taste like real cheese and there's some variation in the intensity of the flavor - every single one doesn't taste exactly the same. They aren't as crunchy as Cheetos and don't turn your fingers orange!
After trying a couple bags purchased at the grocery store, I decided I loved them enough to invest in this 12-pack from Amazon. Okay, so maybe I went a little wild and had a bag (or two) a day until they were gone - don't judge me!

(More customer reviews)I think that some people have complained that this popcorn is bland, but that's what it's supposed to be.... It's a product that is as healthy as you want it to be- you decide. :) Although I do like to add salt, I have found that I don't really care to add a lot of other flavors to it. This is probably because my mom used to air-pop popcorn when we were kids (and add her own flavors) and it kind of reminds me of that. I guess she didn't add very much. :) It seems to "pop" better than other varieties I've tried and it doesn't leave you with greasy fingers. Good job, Newman.

However, this is not the case with Newman's Popcorn. This popcorn tastes great, hot or cold because of the oils used. Highly reccomended!
